I am an entrepreneur, rancher, fund raising and management
consultant, and businesswoman. I worked in the non profit sector
for 22 years. I assisted
numerous institutions and organizations achieve their fundraising and
management objectives.
Since retiring in 1998 I have built a successful equestrian business
on a small working ranch in central Texas.

1998
to Present .(Semi-Retired) Post Oak Farm, Burnet, Texas.
Built a successful equestrian business from scratch.
Owner and hands on manager of a small working ranch raising cattle and
goats.
We offer horse boarding, riding lessons, recreational riding and horse
training.
Developed a diversified ranching business plan which incorporates the
equestrian program,
raising livestock and growing our own hay.
Developed Miller’s Equine Wound Salve,
a universal healer for equines using essential oils and beeswax.
Developed small but profitable on-line marketing and sales program for the
new product.
1995 – 1997 – Sabbatical in western
Ireland. Lived for two years
in the Irish village of Ardrahan.
Worked in the summer of 1995 as a gopher and logistics support hand for
Willie Leahy’s Aille Cross/Connemara Trail .
Studied for and passed the British
Horse Society Stage 1 in Riding and Horse Care.
Served as secretary for the Tulira Castle County Show, a three-day county
horse and livestock show in Galway County.
Learned html programming before WSIWYG programs were available and
started a web site development service for equestrian businesses in
Ireland.
This initiative was cut short when my father was diagnosed
with Alzheimer’s disease and I returned to the United States.
Career Summary
1975 – 1995 Professional History. Based in
Pasadena, California,
I worked in the non profit sector in virtually every aspect of management,
major gifts development and campaign fundraising for over twenty two
years.
I have an understanding of the philanthropic process in both donors and
institutions.
I have a philosophical approach and developed methodologies which produce
results.
I focus on institutional effectiveness and accountability as the means of
achieving donor confidence.
I acquired the experience to
successfully manage individuals and teams within complex organizations.
I
have provided professional fundraising and management counsel
to organizations in the fields of
private higher education, graduate study, scientific research, botany,
regional and global conservation,
museums and collections, the arts and arts education,
private secondary education, college and university administration,
international development,
children's and women's health issues in the developing world, international
relief activities,
public television, medical research, hospice services, community services,
children's arts and culture.
My
personal style is informal, dynamic, and team-oriented.
My working philosophy embraces the importance of personal and professional
accountability,
the need for organizational consensus and effective leadership.
It
was during my years in Pasadena that I returned to my childhood passion for
horses and began my
equine education in earnest through horse ownership, lessons, clincs and independent study.
